Lauren Reeves, Ph.D.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a specialty in treating insomnia using a short-term, evidence-based therapy (CBT-insomnia). I also have extensive experience working with adults of all ages on a variety of challenges, including life transitions and adjustments, managing anxiety and depression, and recovering from trauma.
I earned my Ph.D. from Temple University in Philadelphia, where I provided therapy services in various hospitals, community clinics, and school clinics, and I was deeply involved in research, both through publishing manuscripts and securing a predoctoral grant through the NIH. I completed my pre-doctoral clinical internship at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship specializing in the treatment of trauma-related disorders. Within Rhode Island, my clinical work has taken me to Rhode Island Hospital, Butler Hospital, and the VA. The majority of my clinical career has been working with Veterans in the VA's Post Deployment & Readjustment Program, helping Veterans adjust to the many stressors and changes that come with life post-military or deployment.
My clinical approach leans on cognitive-behavioral treatments, and is deeply rooted in acceptance- and mindfulness-based therapies. Working with me, you can expect a collaborative, compassionate, and nonjudgmental approach, with a smattering of metaphors and improved sleep!
